Below, we have some guidance for how to take care of your canvas. You can also check out Sunbrella’s cleaning guide for specific spills.

Cleaning Sunbrella Marine Canvas

The best way to maintain Sunbrella fabric is to hose it off monthly with clean water. This helps remove dirt from the fabric, so it doesn’t get deeply embedded. Did you know that your removable Sunbrella marine upholstery fabric is machine washable? Just use cold water, mild laundry detergent plus about a cup of bleach, and make sure to air dry.

Heavy Cleaning for Stubborn Stains and Mildew

Although Sunbrella fabrics prevent mold growth, mold may grow on dirt or other substances that aren’t removed from the fabric. *Please be aware that bleach can be harmful to the environment (don’t dump it into a body of water or down a storm drain) and may discolor fabrics that are not Sunbrella.* How to remove mold or mildew:

  • Create a solution with 1 cup of bleach and 1/4 cup of mild soap for every gallon of water
  • Let mixture soak into fabric for 15 minutes
  • Blot stain with a sponge or clean towel
  • Rinse well to remove soap residue
  • Allow fabric to air dry
