Sea Ray

Sea Ray Cockpit Cover By Chicago Marine CanvasFor this Sea Ray, we did a custom cockpit cover with custom boots for their framing.

Here at Chicago Marine Canvas, we only do custom work. That means no two covers are a like. We begin every job by physically going out to your boat to take measurements with our 3D measuring device. Our measuring device is one of the many tools that we have here in our shop that is cost-effective and labor saving. After we gather all the right numbers, we head back to our shop to begin the design process.

We do all of our design work on the computer using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Software. This helps save us time and you money. Here we can quickly design your cover, and see it in 3D before we even sew it all together. Once we make sure that all of your needs are met and that the design is top notch, we send it over to our plotter. Our plotter is another one of our fun tools that we use to save us time and you money. It can quickly draw out the pattern for your new cover in a matter of minutes, without any errors. After it’s all drawn out, our seamstress cuts out all the pieces and begins to sew it all together.

For this cover we used Sunbrella fabric in Heather Beige! Sunbrella fabric is one of our favorite canvas’ to use here in our shop! It comes with a 10 year warranty and is fade resistant! To sew everything together we used GORE Tenara thread. GORE tenara is a great thread to use for outdoor applications because it is UV resistant, weather resistant, and chemical resistant. It comes with a lifetime guarantee, which means no more restitching once your cover has been out in the sun for a few years!

50′ Sea Ray

50' Sea Ray Sundancer By Chicago Marine CanvasThis 50′ Sea Ray Sundancer was in need of a new full enclosure.

Here at Chicago Marine Canvas, we only do custom covers. That means, no two covers are alike. The first step of our process is to physically go out to your boat and take measurements with our 3D measuring device. This is one of the many tools that we use here in our shop that separates us from other canvas shops. With this tool we can quickly take measurements of your boat,  which will save you time and money at the end of the day! After we gather all of the measurements needed, we head back to our shop and start our design process. We do all of our design work on the computer using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. This helps us visually by seeing the design before we draw it all out, so we can make sure everything looks perfect before we start to sew it all together. Once we finish that up, we head over to our plotter, which is another one of our labor-saving, cost effective tools, and we begin to draw out your new canvas. After everything is all drawn out, our seamstress cuts out all the pieces and begins sewing it all together.

For this cover we  used Black Sunbrella Supreme with Black Flocking on the img_20160727_150720342_hdrinside of the fabric. This fabric is water proof and very soft on the inside. We used GORE Tenara thread, and Lenzip zippers. Both of these things come with a lifetime warranty. For the forward windows we used Makrolon. img_20160727_150937573Makrolon is a polycarbonate that is clear like glass, and is softer then real glass, and more firm them Strataglass. For the Aft windows we used Strataglass.

37′ Sea Ray – Full Enclosure

searay370-forward-windowsThis 37′ Sea Ray needed a new marine canvas! The owners decided to go with a full enclosure design.

This cover was constructed with Black Sunbrella fabric and sewn with GORE Tenara thread. GORE Tenara thread is guaranteed to last a life time! It’s great for your boat cover because it is UV resistant, chemical resistant, acid rain resistant, and salt water resistant. It’s also made with a non fading pigment to ensure that your sew lines will always look as good as they did on the first day you put your boat cover up! searay370-aft-coverThe customer decided to go with Strataglass for their windows we constructed. We made five forward windows for this Sea Ray that attached to a smaller forward bimini and one big drop down aft cover with a single window. This aft piece attaches to the radar arch using a piece of kedar we sewed to the pack panel.

This cover turned out great and will be keeping this boat dry when there’s a rainy day in Chicago!
