Canvas still looking great but your windows are cracking or are starting to become discolored? An easy cost effective way to fix that issue is window replacements.
Our process is a little different then other boat shops. Over time your canvas can become stretched out or even shrink after its been on your boat for a while. To help ensure that your windows will fit we start off by taking your old windows and removing the old glass from them. Then we head out to your boat, zip the windows back onto the bimini and snap them down to the boat. We then take our 3D measuring device and take real measurements of the windows, so we have a guide as to where the new windows need to be sewn, so they look great and fit just right when we are all done!
We can also help you pick out your new window material. Maybe you want Strataglass or Eisenglass.
50′ Sea Ray
This 50′ Sea Ray Sundancer was in need of a new full enclosure.
Here at Chicago Marine Canvas, we only do custom covers. That means, no two covers are alike. The first step of our process is to physically go out to your boat and take measurements with our 3D measuring device. This is one of the many tools that we use here in our shop that separates us from other canvas shops. With this tool we can quickly take measurements of your boat, which will save you time and money at the end of the day! After we gather all of the measurements needed, we head back to our shop and start our design process. We do all of our design work on the computer using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. This helps us visually by seeing the design before we draw it all out, so we can make sure everything looks perfect before we start to sew it all together. Once we finish that up, we head over to our plotter, which is another one of our labor-saving, cost effective tools, and we begin to draw out your new canvas. After everything is all drawn out, our seamstress cuts out all the pieces and begins sewing it all together.
For this full enclosure, we used White Stamoid fabric. For the windows we used Strataglass. To sew it all together we used GORE Tenara thread. GORE tenara thread comes with a lifetime limited warranty. It is UV resistant, weather resistant and salt water resistant. That means no more restitching, ever when your canvas has GORE tenara thread on it! Our zipper of choice is Lenzip zippers, which also has a lifetime guarantee.
This enclosure has 5 forward windows, and 9 aft windows, along with a 2 piece bimini. We also created 2 roll up windows on both the port and star side for air-flow when the enclosure is up.
Blarney Island Pontoon – Full Enclosure
Blarney Island contacted us with a big job that got us super excited! They told us they had a pontoon boat that held 40 passengers and it was in need of a new full enclosure.
We used Stamoid Heavy in Royal Blue. We used GORE Tenara thread, and Lenzip zippers, both of these things are guaranteed for life to last!
The three forward windows for this enclosure is made out of Makrolon to add a little more stability to the structure of this cover. Makrolon is a harder type of glass that has a little bit of flexibility, but not where near as much as Strataglass or Eisenglass. For the other 12 windows, we used Strataglass.
Every panel on this boat is connected to the awning track by kedar being attached to zippers we sewed to each window. This allowed the boat to have a very clean look inside, and out!
46′ Sea Ray – Bimini & Aft Enclosure
For this 46′ Sea Ray we created a boat cover. We designed a bimini, along with panels to cover the aft and both port and star sides of the boat. Using Linen Sunbrella fabric to match the forward windows that were in great shape we created two side windows using Strataglass to complete the enclosure. We used GORE Tenara thread and Lenzip zippers for this cover, which are both guaranteed to last a life time.
42′ Silverton – Flybridge Enclosure
For this 42′ Silverton we created a full enclosure for the flybridge. Using Silica Charcoal Sunbrella fabric and Strataglass, designed a enclosure with maximum visibility for these boaters. We used GORE Tenara thread and Lenzip zippers, both of these are guaranteed to last for life!
We created three forward windows, and three aft windows. All three forward windows have roll ups, along with both port and star windows, and the middle aft. This is to help create airflow while the cover is up!
42′ Navigator – Full Enclosure
For this 42′ Navigator we designed a full enclosure with maximum visibility.
For this boat cover the customers went with Stamoid fabric in white. Stamoid is a material coated in vinyl and is very easy for cleaning. These boaters wanted to use Makrolon for their Forward windows. Makrolon is an a polycarbonate which is clear like glass material that is harder then other marine materials commonly used for windows. With Makrolon your windows wont bend and wont wrinkle, and wont scratch. For their side and aft windows, the customer went with Strataglass, that way they could have roll ups for easy access to air flow while the enclosure is still up! We created these roll ups with screens to help prevent any unwanted bugs from getting onto the boat. The forward windows attached to the bimini using Lenzip zippers, using GORE Tenara thread, both of these products are guaranteed to last a life time. The aft windows are attached to the radar arch using kedar and water proof seal to ensure no leakage into the boat. We also created a windshield cover for this boat to help keep the heat off the inside, and the windshield clean when no ones on the boat! This cover turned out great and looks super sharp on this 42′ Navigator!
39′ Carver – Full Flybridge Enclosure
39′ Carver was in need of a full enclosure for its flybridge. For this marine cover we used Sunbrella Plus in Black. Sunbrella Plus has one side coated with polyurethane and acrylic, leaving one side of the material rubbery. We used GORE Tenara thread in black and Lenzip Zippers. For the glass this customer chose Strataglass. We made sure to design this enclosure with maximum visibility.
This enclosure has seven Strataglass panels, including three roll up windows. One in the forward center window, and one on the star and port side of the enclosure. We used DOT snaps to secure the windows to the Flybridge creating a nice secure space for the owners of this boat!
38′ Tiara – Full Enclosure
This 38′ Tiara needed a full enclosure with an aft cover that could easily roll up.
This marine cover was constructed with Sunbrella Oyster fabric, clear GORE Tenara thread, and white Lenzip Zippers. Both the thread and zippers have a life time guarantee. The three forward windows are made out of a thicker glass called Makrolon. Makrolon is a polycarbonate which is
abrasion resistant, and wrinkle resistant. These windows are thicker, and harder due to the different material they are made out of. They tend to give your new cover a cleaner look, making your boat cover look super sharp once it’s all finished.
The aft cover has one single window, made of Strataglass. Strataglass is softer, which is why we incorporated it in the back piece so the owners of this boat could easily roll their cover up if they wanted to! We used DOT snap fasteners in oyster that way the snaps blend into the cover, along with some kedar we sewed onto the forward windows, and the top of the aft cover. The kedar goes into a track thats attached to the boats hard top/radar arch, making things fit securely and snug!
Overall, our team created another beautiful cover for another happy customer out on Lake Michigan this summer!
37′ Sea Ray – Full Enclosure
This 37′ Sea Ray needed a new marine canvas! The owners decided to go with a full enclosure design.
This cover was constructed with Black Sunbrella fabric and sewn with GORE Tenara thread. GORE Tenara thread is guaranteed to last a life time! It’s great for your boat cover because it is UV resistant, chemical resistant, acid rain resistant, and salt water resistant. It’s also made with a non fading pigment to ensure that your sew lines will always look as good as they did on the first day you put your boat cover up! The customer decided to go with Strataglass for their windows we constructed. We made five forward windows for this Sea Ray that attached to a smaller forward bimini and one big drop down aft cover with a single window. This aft piece attaches to the radar arch using a piece of kedar we sewed to the pack panel.
This cover turned out great and will be keeping this boat dry when there’s a rainy day in Chicago!
31′ Tiara – Open Enclosure
The owner’s of the 31′ Tiara reached out to us for a new open enclosure. Using our 3D portable measuring device we made a design using CAD software to create this marine cover.
The customer decided on Sunbrella Black canvas for this new enclosure along with Strataglass for their new windows. The customer decided to have us construct this new boat cover using Gore Tenara thread which is guaranteed to last a life time from weather, water, and sun! We also used Lenzip zippers on this enclosure between all of the panels on the boat that also come with a lifetime guarantee.
The back consists of three drop down panels that easily roll up to open up access to the back end of the boat.
We also created a one piece Aft
cover for this boat which consisted of only Sunbrella fabric that attached to the radar arch using Silver DOT snaps to attach to the boat.
