Dockside Decking – Custom Logo

For this project, medium grey over light grey Dockside Decking was added to the swim platform and steps. It is a great addition to swim platforms since it a non-skid marine flooring product designed for rugged marine environments.

When adding the decking to their boat, many people choose to add their boats name or custom logo. Just like with embroidery, we work together with the customer to match their vison and create the perfect design.

Dockside Decking is a polyethylene based; UV-resistant closed-cell PE/EVA foam product currently available in over 10 color patterns. It’s soft on your feet and provides excellent traction when wet or dry. It also won’t absorb troublesome liquids that can be found on a deck like motor oil, fish blood, wine, ect! It is also very easy to maintain and keep clean.

Full Enclosure, Dockside Decking, Cockpit Carpeting – Sea ray Sundancer

For this 1994 Sea Ray Sundancer we did a range of projects including adding Dockside Decking to the swim platform, a full enclosure with a new aft frame, and cockpit carpeting.

Doing multiple projects on a boat simultaneously is a great way to see a brand-new transformation when complete.

We use many labor-saving, cost-effective tools when creating these projects that help us speed up our process. We first go out to your boat to take precise measurements for each of the projects using our 3D measuring device. Then we head back to the shop and start our design process.

Full Enclosure

Adding an enclosure to your boat is a great way to protect both you and the boat from the sun or rain. This makes it easy to boat in any types of Chicago weather.

After getting the measurements from the 3D measuring device, we create a digital template on the computer of the enclosure. From there the seamstresses are able to start sewing together the canvas enclosure.

Dockside Decking

Dockside Decking also won’t absorb troublesome liquids that can be found on a deck like motor oil, fish blood, wine, ect! It is also very easy to maintain and keep clean.

Cockpit Carpeting

Cockpit Carpeting is a great way to keep the interior and exterior of your boat clean while creating traction for walking on. The high-quality carpeting, we use is by Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl.

The vinyl that it’s made of is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial, so mold and mildew cannot grow here! Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl dries quickly and can never get soaked by any liquid. According to Infinity fabrics, if their flooring is submerged in water, it will actually float, not sink like typical carpeting.

For this 2005 Sea Ray Sundancer 280 we installed dockside decking to the swim platform. It is a non-skid marine flooring product designed for rugged marine environments. This customer chose brown over black for their material color.

Dockside Decking is a polyethylene based, UV-resistant closed-cell PE/EVA foam product currently available in over 10 color patterns. It’s soft on your feet and provides excellent traction when wet or dry.

In addition to its good looks, it won’t absorb those troublesome liquids typically found on deck. Such as motor oil, fish blood, red wine or beer! Lastly, it is easy to clean and is stain resistant.

On this Cruisers Yacht we made correlating dockside decking and infinity carpeting.

Azimut 39′ Flybridge

A great way to update your boat is to update the flooring. This summer, while working with Crowley’s Yacht Yard, we got a job working on a Azimut 39′ Flybridge that involved all new interior and exterior flooring. As well as a new folding seat on the bridge. Crowley’s allows us year round access to all their customers boats in storage, allowing us to do work even when snow is around! This way your boat is ready to go when boating season is back!

For the exterior aft area, swim platform and interior bathrooms, we used Dockside Decking in cream over black. This flooring was chose for this area of the boat because it is non-slip, shock absorbent, and reduces deck temperatures. It is also easy to clean and is stain resistant. Dockside decking is put on your boat, with an adhesive 3M backing, so its there to stay!

Up on the flybridge we did some upholstery work. These customers wanted more seating on the flybridge when using the boat. They needed a seat that would fold down when the canvas was up on the boat. So we made a custom folding seat, that could be folded down when not in use. For the frame of this seat we used stainless steel tubing and hinges. For the base of the seat and the backrest, we used starboard. Starboard is a marine grade plastic that we love to use on new upholstery work. It is non absorbent, which means that it won’t get water logged when it rains so it wont rot like wood. We did a full back upholstered bench seat with Ship 2 Shore vinyl. We did double needle stitching, to make sure that the new custom seat matched the existing seats on the flybridge.

Woven Vinyl Flooring

One of the things we offer here at Chicago Marine Canvas is luxury flooring. Now a days with technological advances in textiles, people aren’t putting regular pile carpet on their boats anymore. It doesn’t last as long, it easily gets moldy, it retains water, gets dirty fast, and doesn’t seem to last long. The product we use is by a company named Infinity which produces a woven vinyl flooring.

Here at Chicago Marine Canvas, we use lots of labor-saving, cost-effective tools which helps us lower the cost of our services we offer to our customers. One of those tools we use is our 3D measuring device. We use this to take all of our measurements quickly and efficiently. When it comes to flooring we head out to your boat and map out the whole flooring area that you want covered, making sure that we get the tightest fit possible, so that your new flooring looks how it should, like it was custom made for your boat. After we gather all of our measurements needed, we head back to the shop and start the design process. All of our design work is done on the computer using CAD (Computer-Aided-Design) software. This allows us to see the end product ahead of time, allowing us to make any minor adjustments we may need to before we go out to install your new product. It really helps us speed up the install process because it cuts our installs down to a one time thing instead of a multiple trip one. After we do all of our design work on the computer,mapping out your new custom flooring we send our design over to our plotter and draw out a template. Our plotter is another one of our special tools we use here at Chicago Marine Canvas. It helps us quickly and precisely draw out whatever we need it to, that way everything is perfect! Once our templates are all drawn out, we cut them to size and lay out your new flooring. We make sure the pattern is all going the right way, so everything will look nice and neat once we install the new flooring on your boat. We trace out the pieces of the flooring, and then we cut it all out using our electric cutting knife. The pattern picked out for this boat is called Boucle #9.Then we bind all the edges of the flooring with Sunbrella binding in charcoal grey. After that we roll it up and bring it back out to your boat for installation.

Infinity Woven Vinyl comes with a 10 year warranty. This product is 100% recyclable and is certifiably green! It is anti-mircobial allowing no bacterial or mold growth. It is soil and stain resistant. It doesn’t get trashed by bird or spider defecation and is easy to clean!

Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl

Made in the U.S.A. Infinity Fabrics is the green way to accommodate your boating needs. Made with 100% recyclable materials, this flooring is U.V. resistant and has antimicrobial technology which prevents bacterial growth. This flooring is pet friendly, and is unaffected by sea gull and spider deification! It also is unaffected by gasoline, motor oil, and grease.
Backing
Most flooring or carpeting use urethane backing. If you have this kind of flooring you will notice that once your flooring gets wet, it stays wet for a long period of time which will encourage mold and mildew growth among the fibers. Urethane backing on flooring also discolors, cracks and is shreds leaving a mess all over your boat. Infinity Fabrics uses vinyl backing. Since the front of the flooring is also vinyl this means that both the front side and back side of Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl is recyclable. The vinyl is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial, so mold and mildew cannot grow here! Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl dries quickly and can never get soaked by any liquid. According to Infinity fabrics, if their flooring is submerged in water, it will actually float, not sink like typical carpeting.
Care & Cleaning
The best way to keep Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl looking spiffy is by hosing it down on a weekly basis with clean water. This helps prevent dirt build up from becoming stuck in between the complex weave structures that make your flooring look great!
General/Light Cleaning
-Brush off loose dirt on you flooring with a broom.
-Hose down with clean water
-Mix a solution of clean water and mild soap (such as dishwashing liquid or a house hold cleaner), apply a small amount to Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl and use a small bristle brush to clean. After that, rinse thoroughly until all the soap residue is gone! Allow it to air dry.
Heavy Cleaning
-Mix a solution of 1 cup bleach and 1/4 cup mild soap per gallon of clean water. Apply small amount of the bleach/soap mixture. Blot the stain with a sponge or clean towel. Rinse thoroughly until all the soap residue is gone! Allow it to air dry!
Things To Remember
-Protect the area around your Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl if using the bleach/soap mixture. Other fabrics that are not made by Infinity Fabrics maybe have an adverse reaction.
-If you want to get your flooring professionally cleaned, make sure you ask if they have any experience with Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl.
-Always rinse Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl thoroughly to completely remove any soap or bleach you may have put onto the flooring.
-Be aware of the environment, bleach can have harmful effects on the natural environment around you.
-Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl should only be air dried!
Storage
All Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl could stay on your boat all winter long. It can stay on the flooring flat, how it is installed. It also can be rolled up, with the patterned side facing out, cushion side in!
Extra Flooring
Ask about your extra flooring scraps! It can be made into floor mats, door mats, place matts, swim platform matts, even a matt for your dock!
Warranty
Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl has a ten year limited warranty!!!
